Eleven Months To Go

Time is ticking slowly by and with each tick of the second hand, somewhere in the back of my head is that sinister voice sneering at my lack of writing. Well, it can sneer all it want, this puppy aing't budging till it feels right. :p I know most people believe that as a writer, you must write anyway, no matter how much you don't feel like it. But as an Aquarius with Scorpio moonsign, my gut feeling says I need time out so that's exactly what I'm going to take. Got another article published in my ex travel magazine Virtual Malaysia Magazine and another in the pipeline. Lately, I've been fiddling with an idea in my head of setting up a website for my freelance work. Nothing fancy, just your basic freelance writing cum translation services. Although I'm registered with a couple of online job search sites, perhaps my fate lies not in working for someone else, but working for myself instead. While I still can. ;) So, eleven months to go and three New Years res...

30 Pages And Counting

So I've only had two solid sitting with editing my NaNo novel and managed to do about 30 pages of editing. The story right now is about 90 pages long, so if I keep on at this rate, it'll take me about a week to finish my first-draft editing (errr... let me know if my math is a bit off here!). :) Going through the editing process, I can see, here and there, how I can improve on the characters, the flow of the story, the description, etc, and that makes for a pretty intresting ride. Of course, I find that I can only stand about two to three straight hours of editing before my eyes get a bit tired or my stomach starts rumbling or I get a bit antsy for sitting down too long. So I find myself a distraction. Like writing this blog entry. Hehe... :) Which is fine. I mean, I'm in no hurry to get anywhere (although sometimes I dream that my life is slowly slipping past me and fear that I'd wake up realising I have not really achieved anything substantially remarkable to be proud...

Making a Grand Mess of Things.

It's day 16 of NaNoWriMo 2007 and I'm making a grand mess of lagging on both 2006's editing AND 2007's writing! Do I feel guilty about it? Strangely enough, No. I'll still complete 2006's editing no matter what. But I'm more interested in seeing how 2007's story progresses. Big differences between the two, in terms of the feel of ths story, the style of the writing and the intimacy of the storyline. I *think* I'm improving quite a bit from 2006 to 2007. I've definitely improved a lot from what I used to write back in the early days. :) I wish everyone at NaNo 2007 a good journey & may all your stories come to a full, glorious end!
