Time, Patience and Endurance.

The writing profession takes time, patience and endurance. You don't complete a story in a day. You don't perfect it in a week. It's elusive sometimes, and frustrating. It isn't easy, nor is it straightforward. Sometimes it brings you no joy. Other times it's downright boring. On very few occasions will you experience instant gratification. In many cases, writing will not bring the fulfillment the writer longs for. Not the fame or money or success or recognition or contentment. Some writers get nowhere in their life or careers. Some writers die not ever having published anything in their lives. Some writers have norhting important or significant or compelling or interesting or new to say. No story to tell. No lesson to teach. There's nothing worse than a writer who has nothing really to say.

So you better have something to say and something you really stand for. ;)
