Dogs & Classic Cars - Hyde Heath Commons

Yesterday was filled with pedigree dogs and classic cars - all on the commons at Hyde Heath. They say dog owners tend to look like their dogs after a while (or was that the other way around) and indeed there were quite a few examples of this at the dog show.

One particular dog that caught my eye was a stout bulldog, with folds of skin on his face and a tongue that kept lolling out as he grunts around, pulling his owner on his body leash. The man who owned the dog was with a pretty lady who has a little black pug herself. Have a look and see:
He was so cute (the dog), I couldn't help but take a few photos! There was something brash and unapologetic about the dog, the way he tugs at the lead, straining to come up to another dog to sniff at, or the guttural breathy snarl (which turned out to be just him breathing!), or the flat face covered with folds of white and brown. His manners reminded me of a bratty, impetuous five year old slightly overweight child!

There were lots of other dogs of course, from Daschund to St. Bernards, Spaniels to Alsations. All cute and cuddly. Another one that caught my eye is the little dark brown sausage dog whose body was so amazingly long and legs so incredibly short. I started taking photos of the dog while he was in line to be judged in its category, and in the end, lo and behold, he won first place in his category! I should have asked him his name.

I was told that Mike's favourite dog, if he ever were to have one, was the Afghan. What a surprise! I don't think all that hair brushing would be something he'd be too crazy about though. Still they were beautiful dogs, the afghans. Very graceful and flowy. Like really lanky ballerinas!
