Has it really been a month already since the first day of puasa/Ramadhan 2009? One can't help but feel a little bit sad that Ramadhan is ending, yet greatful at the same time. Grateful that Ramadhan has reminded us of the blessings we have in life, of the fact that unlike some in the world, we can get food when we want to, we can get shelter when we need to and we live a life of freedom free from oppression. This is one of the purpose of Ramadhan, to be a month which reminds us to be grateful for what we have.
And it's not just Ramadhan. People of the books in the past (and now) fast according to their own religion. Fasting had been ordained in one form or another in almost all the religions of the world, from Judaism to Christianity, Hinduism to Buddhism. Half way into the fasting month, you'll get an idea of how fasting curbs your desires. It's a subtle feeling, if one notices it at all. It's cleansing - physically and spiritually.
Lately, I've been waking up in the morning with a random song playing in my head. One day it's Beyonce, the next it's Lady Gaga. It was kinda cool for a while, hearing a song without switching on the radio. But after hearing songs in my head first thing in the morning four to five days staright, it got a bit weird. So I started listening to something 'better' than just random songs. I searched for the Asma Ul Husna (since it's Ramadhan and everything, you know) and started listening to that. Right, I know some of you might be thinking 'eehhh... she's getting a bit weir on us here'. Well, weirdness is a subjective thing, isn't it? :)
In any case, our job is to deliver the message. What you do with it is up to you. So I thought you might like this Asma Ul Husna video from Youtube:
Would you believe it, I got sidetracked to listening to Tala'al Badru Alaiyna (happens to be the one sang by Yusuf Islam a.k.a Cat Stevens, and now for some inexplicable reason, I got a lump in my throat! :) Enjoy:
