Before I can Help Others

I must first help myself. Before I can make other people happy, I must first make myself happy. This is not being selfish, it's being rational. If I do not know how to make myself happy, how can I possible know how to make other people happy, truly happy - not superficially happy, but truly and genuinely happy.

If I cannot solve my own problems, how can I expect - indeed, force myself - to solve other people's problems? If I am myself lost, how can I point the right way for others? Before you put on the gas mask on those dependent on you, first put the gas mask on yourself. This is not selfishness, this is rationality.

So now, I need to learn how to make myself happy.
