Our Homes, Atomic Habits,

Quoted from Flylady.net:

"Our homes are our greatest asset. They shelter us from the stress of our every day jobs and protect us from the storms of life. We have taken our homes for granted, knowing that they will always be here for us. In order for our homes to protect us, we have to be their eyes, ears and hands. Our homes cannot maintain themselves; it is up to us to protect them from the wear and tear of the weather, time and our families.
For years the only time we would take care of our homes was when we were cleaning. That cleaning didn’t happen until the mess was so bad that we could not stand it any longer. When we were in our crisis cleaning mode, we couldn’t take the time to do the little things to keep our homes from falling into disrepair. The same is true for the general repairs of our home."

Okay, I admit - I have fallen off the FlyLady bandwagon a while back.  Although, one or two of the daily cleaning habits have stuck. I hate to say that life got in the way of my progress with FlyLady, but life got in the way of my progress with FlyLady. Nothing major, singular event, just normal everyday life. Looking back though, I'm reminded of what James Clear said in his book 'Atomic Habits':

James Clear 'Atomic Habits'
It's like everything else in life, in order for you to get any good at something, you need to practice, practice, practice. Be steadfast. Istiqomah. Make it a habit in your life (Watch  this video on James Clear:  James Clear Atomic Habits). "Don't focus on Goals, instead focus on Systems" is one of his suggestions in his book. Don't make your goal "I'm going to clean my kitchen sink till it shines every night." Instead, cultivate the mindset that "That kitchen sink is always going to be filled with dishes that needs washing everyday, so washing them each night RIGHT AFTER dinner and wiping the kitchen sink WITH CIF until it shines will be my system and habit every night." It's important to BE SPECIFIC with what it is that you want to achieve.

These are just two people I've learned a lot from.  There's a lot more good advice and examples in there from both of these guys, so go ahead and check them out!
